David Lee Bannister

David Lee Bannister, 62, died Jan. 6, 2014, at the Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Ariz., following a struggle with cancer and pneumonia.

He was born May 4, 1951, to Nell and Fred C. Bannister Jr. and was raised in Enumclaw, graduating from Enumclaw High School in 1968. He received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Seattle University and a master of science degree in aeronautical engineering from DeVry University, Phoenix, Ariz. In his career as a journalist, he was employed at The Enumclaw Courier-Herald and Seattle Times/Post Intelligencer. He also worked as a technical writer for The Boeing Company and McDonald-Douglas Aircraft.

He is survived by his mother Nell Bannister of Lynden, Wash., and brother Fred Bannister of Bellingham, Wash. He was preceded in death by his father Fred C Bannister Jr.

He will be placed next to his father at Washelli Cemetery in Seattle. A family service honoring his life will be conducted at a later time. Condolences can be sent via fcbannister@comcast.net.
