Dolores Wallace

Dolores “Dody” Wallace died Oct. 3, 2023, at the age of 88.

November 18, 1934 – October 3, 2023

Dolores “Dody” Wallace, the beloved and devoted matriarch of our family, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2023. She was born on November 18, 1934, in Enumclaw, Washington, to her proud parents, John and Louise Rogers. She was later joined by sister Toni (Joan) and brother Buck (John). Her close bond with her parents and siblings remained throughout their lifetimes. She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law Jane Rogers.

Dody later married Bob Wallace, and she was blessed with four children— Brian, Brad, Denise, and Jeff. Her family was expanded through marriage where she loved Janelle (Brian), Larry (Denise), and Christi (Jeff) as her own. In time, Dody’s family grew to include seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her home on Clovercrest was a safe haven for us all – whether we needed a roof over our heads, a warm meal, or an ear.

Her family was her brightest life achievement and joy, and we loved her back in kind. Dody spent her entire life in the tight-knit community of Enumclaw, where she formed decades-long friendships through family, spending time at the Moose Lodge playing bingo, and through her 45+ year career at Mutual of Enumclaw. We know that she did not necessarily love insurance, but she loved us and working was a means of providing for us.

In addition to her family and friends, Dody had many other loves. These included (in no particular order) – bingo, playing cards, Gonzaga basketball, the Mariners, Hallmark holiday movies, and baking many of her family-favorite meals and desserts. One of the greatest physical gifts she left for us was her recipe box – a literal treasure trove of yumminess and memories for our family to enjoy for generations to come.

After 49 years at her home on Clovercrest, Dody spent the last several years of her life at High Point Village. We would like to thank High Point’s amazing staff for the love and care they gave to Mom. Tey brought comfort to our family knowing that Mom was safe when we were not there, and their care in her final days was comforting to us all. Although our family grieves, we are comforted knowing that Mom has joined her parents, siblings, kitties, and many extended family members and friends in Heaven. We know that they are celebrating in their reunion!

A celebration of Dody’s life will be held in the Spring of 2024. Mom loved the rebirth of Spring, and she always wanted us to celebrate her life during a nice time of year. An announcement of her celebration will be shared once a date is finalized.

May Mom rest in peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously shared throughout her remarkable life. Love you more.
