With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Bishop, a loving father and grandfather, a resilient friend, and a courageous soul. Born on April 30, 1946, in Tacoma, Washington, Gary lived his life with a sense of humor that could light up a room and a spirit unyielding in the face of life’s twists and turns. While the world holds much suffering, it also holds many triumphs over it. This sentiment reflects Gary’s spirit perfectly—he never let his disability diminish his enthusiasm for life.
Gary was the proud owner and operator of a trucking business, a testament to his hardworking nature. His determination and work ethic were nothing short of inspirational, often serving as a beacon of motivation for those around him. Despite the demands of his profession, he always made time for what mattered most to him – his family and friends. In his spare time, he loved fishing, spending winters in Arizona, and spending time with friends and his grandkids, creating a treasure trove of cherished memories that they will hold close to their hearts. Gary was a lively presence, always ready to share a laugh or lend a helping hand.
Gary’s memory will forever be honored by his son, Andy Bishop, and his daughter-in-law, Tori Bishop, his daughter, Cindy Wislocker, and his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Jane Bishop, his wife Arlene, daughter Sheila, and son John. His life was a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and laughter, making him a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him.
May we all remember Gary, not with tears, but with laughter for all the joy he brought into our lives. Please share your stories, fond memories, and photographs of Gary on his memorial page.
