George Potocnik

George Potocnik of Enumclaw died March 10, 2011, at the age of 99.

He was born March 7, 1912, in Black Diamond to Frank and Mary (Dolene) Potocnik. He had lived in Black Diamond, Cumberland and Enumclaw. He graduated from Wilson Business College in Seattle and served as a fireman for the U.S. Army Depot in Auburn and at Boeing. He enjoyed fishing and hiking and was a member of the Slovenian National Benefit Society, Lodge 738 for 83 years, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by wife Frances; sons Gene Potocnik and wife Marlene of Everson, Wash., and Jim Potocnik and wife Holly of Enumclaw; daughter Georgene Murphy and husband Glen of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 and the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., both on Thursday, March 17, at Weeks’ Enumclaw Funeral Home. A funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
