Johanna Buysman

Enumclaw resident Johanna (Van Dyk) Buysman, 90, died May 27, 2014, in Auburn.

She was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Kenneth, Minn. On Sept. 12, 1946, she married Andrew Buysman and became a dedicated mother and wife. In 1959 the family moved to Kent, Wash. With five other families they helped start Trinity Reformed Church in Kent. She moved to Enumclaw upon the death of her husband to be near her sister and brothers. In Enumclaw she was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and enjoyed C-circle and Bible study groups. She was an avid quilter and loved reading, doing handwork and painting. After suffering a stroke she spent her final years as a resident at Regency in Auburn.

She is survived by son Robert “Bob” Buysman of Burien, Wash.; daughters Diane Dotson and husband David of Kent, and Gwendolyn Davidson and husband Tom of Renton; brother John Van Dyk and wife Wilma of Enumclaw; sister Grace Eernisse of Shboyan, Wis.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Nellie Verhoeven and Alberta Bandstra; and brothers Gerrit Van Dyk and Alden Van Dyk.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Enumclaw. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park in Enumclaw.
