Kathryn Ellis died in Yelm, Wash., on June 28, 2016.

The youngest of four children, she was born May 26, 1958, in Seattle to Sherrill and Marjorie Whitaker. She grew up in Kent and graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1976. She married Daniel Ellis in 1979 and they moved to Covington, where together they raised four children. She was a 4-H parent and club leader.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Ellis of Yelm; children Sam Ellis of Enumclaw, Emily Bauer of Yelm, Alex Ellis of Plymouth, Mich., and Joe Ellis of Allyn, Wash.; mother Marjorie Whitaker of Auburn; brothers Kerry and Michael Whitaker; sister Julie Whitaker; and four grandchildren.

A gathering to celebrate her life is scheduled for July 15 at Mud Mountain Dam Park in Enumclaw from 4 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
