Kay Marguerite Skogen
February 12, 1941- January 3, 2026
Kay Marguerite Skogen passed away on January 3, 2026, in Auburn, WA at the age of 84. She was born February 12, 1941, to Art and Mildred Borell at the Mahlin Maternity Home in Buckley, WA.
Kay graduated from White River High School in 1959 and attended the University of Washington. She taught Home Economics in Toledo, WA and Richmond, CA where she would meet her sweetheart Bob.
In 1968, Kay and Bob were married and went on to celebrate 55 loving years together. In 1979, they welcomed the birth of their son, Eric. In 1980, they moved back to Buckley, WA and purchased a home that is still in the family today.
Following her teaching career, Kay found her true calling by serving as the Director of the Buckley Senior Center until her retirement in 2006. She was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Buckley and served as a Deacon up until her death. Kay enjoyed flowers, sewing, baking, casino trips with friends on the Senior Bus and spending time with her family.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents Art and Mildred, sisters Elaine Hawkins and Bette Nicholson, brother Jim Borell and nephew Don Nicholson. She is survived by her son Eric (Kelsey), grandsons Jaxson and Riley, and granddaughter Reese. She is also survived by stepdaughters Dana (Mike), Robin, and their extended family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at the City of Buckley Cemetery on Friday, January 23rd at 1:00 pm. A Memorial Service and reception will be held at Community Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 am.
