Laura S. Fortin | Obituary

March 27, 1952 – Aug. 17, 2023

Laura S. Fortin, age 71 of Enumclaw, peacefully passed away August 17, 2023. She was born March 27, 1952 in Akron Ohio, daughter of the late Robert J. Cianchetti Sr. and Minnie Merele (Anthony) Cianchetti. She was their fourth child of six and only daughter.

Laura attended catholic primary school, graduated from Ravenna High School then went on to Kent State University where she met her husband of 48 years, Andre L Fortin. They married July 5, 1975. Three years later, after having their first child (Michelle), they moved to Enumclaw, Washington to pursue their dream of living in the Great Pacific Northwest. They went on to have two more children (Tammy and Chris). When her children were young, Laura stayed home to tend to them and the small farm they owned. Once her children were older, she went to work for the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier for many years. When Andre retired from Boeing she also retired so they could enjoy traveling and helping to care for their grandchildren.

Laura enjoyed all things outdoors and especially enjoyed her bowling clubs where she made many friends over the years. She was an exceptional example to her children as an active leader in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4H and the school PTA. She loved the Lord and was highly involved in her church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, throughout her life, even until the end.

A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, Laura is survived by her husband Andre; her children: Michelle (Travis) Houser, Tammy (Russ Downs) Fortin, and Chris Fortin, all of Enumclaw. She is also survived by 4 loving grandchildren; Truxton, Maddox, Boone and Hyde as well as 4 of her brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John L. Cianchetti.

Rosary was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw on Monday August 28, 2023 at 9am, Funeral Mass at 10am immediately followed by a reception. A private burial was held for the family as she was laid to rest at Holy Krain Cemetery.
