Lorraine Root

Enumclaw resident Lorraine Root died at her home May 17, 2016. She was 84.

She was born Jan. 30, 1932, to Louie Sr. and Beatrice Vetsch in Yakima, Wash. It was there she met and married Raymond Root. They relocated to Seattle in 1953 and then to Enumclaw in 1970. She worked in warehouse management for Wigwam Washington Wholesalers in Renton and then for Nordstrom in Tukwila, Wash., until she retired in 1994. She was an active member of VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary, where she was acting president from 2003-08. She was a longtime parish member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw. She created cakes for many occasions in the local area.

She is survived by daughters Debbie Tyler (Rick) and Viki Lareau (Mark); siblings Mike Vetsch, Tom Vetsch, William Vetsch, Joe Vetsch, Charlie Vetsch, Richard Vetsch, Ruth Carl, Patricia St. George and Ann Nowicki; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Root, and siblings Genny Vanderwood, Mary Pitt and Louie Vetsch Jr.
