Mary Walters of Enumclaw died Jan. 10, 2018, at the age of 103.

She was born March 23, 1914, in Spike-ton, Wash-ington, to Bar-tell and Mary Costanich. She was raised in Cumberland along with her seven brothers and sisters. As an adult, she fished commercially in Alaska for many years with her husband, Dayle Walters. She retired from Rainier State School as a cook. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling, playing bingo and slot machines, and picking blackberries. She was the matriarch of her family and loved preparing all the holiday dinners.

She is survived by son Steven Walters of Greenwater; daughter Barbara Berndt of Auburn; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayle Walters, on Oct. 5, 1997.

A funeral service took place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Weeks’ Funeral Home with burial at Buckley City Cemetery.
