Matthew Anthony Hall

Matthew Anthony Hall died at home in Carbonado on Feb. 14, 2016.

He was born July 21, 1938, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma to Albert and Anna Hall. He attended St. Leo grade school, Bellarmine Prep and Stadium High School, graduating in 1956. He embarked on several careers, starting with Foss Maritime while in his 20s. His true calling came from the woods, logging in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. He was honored at the Buckley Log Show in June of 2015, named the “Bull of the Woods” for long-time service to the timber industry. He raced motorcycles in his youth and was a member of the Tacoma Blue Barons Race Club. He loved building race cars and was most proud of setting his personal land speed record of 180 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Later in life he enjoyed fishing and golfing with family and friends.

He is survived by sister Mary Ann Besel; children Colleen Hall Barta, Cecilia, Tony, David, Albert Hall (Kathy) and Christy Hall; stepchildren Debbie Sellers (Jeff), Luke and Brent Scott; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie, and sister Pat Madera.

A celebration of life will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Wilkeson Eagles, 534 Church St. in Wilkeson.
