Michael (Mike) James Hrisko

October 2, 1940 – January 25, 2024

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather Local Cowboy Michael (Mike) James Hrisko took his last ride. He passed away peacefully at home with family on January 25, 2024, at the age of eighty-three. Mike was born on October 2,1940, in Kenmare, North Dakota. He was the oldest of five brothers, born to Michael and Edna Bell (Bogar) Hrisko. They moved from North Dakota to Burien, Washington in 1943 where they raised their boys. Mike graduated from Highline High School in 1958. He joined the army after he graduated. Mike married Annette Lucille Sutton in 1960. Together they had their daughter Kim in 1965, their son Mike in 1966, and their daughter Laura in 1974. They moved to Enumclaw in 1975 and were married until Annette lost her fight with cancer in 1994.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Annette Hrisko, and his brothers Gary and Mark Hrisko.

Mike always wanted to be a cowboy. He loved anything to do with horses, rodeos, riding, collecting antique and vintage spurs, helping with horse clinics and trail rides, and cattle sorting. He was very proud of the novice buckle he won in 2004 and wore it every day. Mike enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks, Cougars, Huskies, NASCAR, going to the ocean, and dancing. He loved telling stories and laughing; he had a great giggle.

Mike and Laura Webley met in 1995 at The Lee restaurant in Enumclaw thanks to the help of some friends that introduced them. After that, they never left each other’s side. Laura and her daughter Cortnie moved in with Mike and they made a home together. Mike and Laura got married in 2013 at a family member’s home. Together, they loved going to the Pendleton Round up and the Enumclaw Rodeo. In 2021, the Enumclaw Rodeo surprised Mike when they honored him for being the first person in line since 2012; that made him feel very special.

Mike was a heavy equipment operator and could run just about any piece of equipment. He was promoted to Superintendent and was responsible for overseeing multiple projects before he retired in 1997 at the age of 57. He had been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 since 1964 and would have celebrated 60 years in the union in December of 2024.

He is survived by his Wife Laura Hrisko, daughter Kim Reedy, son Mike & Lynette Hrisko, daughter Laura Hayett (Marcus), daughter Cortnie Laush, grandson Drew Hrisko, granddaughter Samantha Hrisko (Travis Major), great grandchildren Kaylin Major, Brooke Major, Andi Major and Hunter Major, granddaughters Sara Ellis (Aaron), great grandsons Noah Ellis and Elijah Ellis, granddaughter Erin Reedy (Melvin Doxey), great granddaughter Melanie Doxey, granddaughters Camryn and Kate Hayett, and brothers John (Cindy) and Tom (Linda) Hrisko. These are only some of the many family members and friends Mike has left behind.

Gone yet not forgotten. Although we are apart, your spirit lives within me forever in my heart. Until we see you again- we love you.

A celebration of life will be held for Mike at the Buckley Eagles at 29021 State Route 410 E, Buckley, WA on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00pm. Please share a message with Mike’s family on the tribute wall at www.weeksfuneralhomes.com.
