Nancy Lee MacCorkle

Nancy Lee MacCorkle, 76, of Enumclaw died June 14, 2016.

She was born Feb. 5, 1940, in Auburn, Wash., to Maxwell and Silvia (Petchnick) Manowski. In her early years she lived in Ravensdale, Morganville (Black Diamond) and Suntrana, Alaska, where she began her elementary education before moving to Harding Street in Enumclaw. She attended Black Diamond and J.J. Smith elementary schools and Enumclaw Junior High before graduating in 1957 from Enumclaw High School. She was chairperson of the EHS all-school reunion for the past several years. She attended Whitworth University, including a year at Mexico City College, graduating in 1961 with a bachelor of arts degree in commercial arts. She married Glenn on June 20, 1964, at St. James Cathedral, Seattle. She was employed at Boeing for four years as a draftsman with the Minuteman Missile and Dynasoar projects before deciding to start a family and stay home to care for them. The family travelled considerably and lived in California, Connecticut and Ohio before returning to Washington in 2003. A winter resident of Val Vista R.V. Resort in Casa Grande, Ariz., since 2009, she was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. In Enumclaw, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Theresa’s Circle and was involved in the Well-Red Hatters for which she was Queen Laughsalot. As a descendant of a founding family of the Krain community, she was a member of Lodge 738 Slovenian National Benefit Society as well as Al-Anon Family Groups on the Plateau and in Casa Grande.

Nancy loved scrapbooking, beading and tending her flower garden and is remembered as a marvelous cook and dessert-maker.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Glenn; daughter Staci MacCorkle of Panama City, Panama; son Sean MacCorkle (Jill) of Seattle; daughter Molli Hinkle (Ian) of Victoria, B.C.; brother Max Manowski of Enumclaw; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1614 Farrelly St., Enumclaw.
