Susan Janette (Christensen) Merrifield, 77, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, in Lincolnton, NC.
Born July 18, 1948, in Enumclaw, WA, to Hans and Dorothy Christensen, she spent most of her life in Washington—living in Enumclaw, Issaquah, and Bellingham—with earlier years in California and later in North Carolina.
In 1989, she married Robert (Robin) Merrifield, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. A 1966 Enumclaw High graduate, she was voted Class Clown, a title that reflected her lifelong humor and quick wit.
Susan worked as an office manager and later as a marketing representative for urgent care offices. In 1994, she suffered a traumatic brain injury but faced recovery with extraordinary strength, grace, and resilience.
She loved crafting, family photo albums, and watching movies with her family. She cherished traveling—especially winters in the Southwest, a trip to Thailand with Robin, and a Scandinavian cruise with her daughters honoring her Danish heritage.
Susan is survived by daughters Kori Shuda and Jennifer Koellmann; stepdaughter Meg Wright; and grandchildren Madi, Sam, Austin, Caleb, Jonah, Erin, and Evan; sister Karen Jansson; and brother Carl Christensen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Robin) Merrifield; parents Hans and Dorothy Christensen; sister Marilyn Mihelich and brother-in-law Phil Michelich; nephew Matt Mihelich; and brother-in-law Jack Jansson.
She will be remembered for her laughter, strength, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
