Ted Morris Jenkins (Sr.), age 75, went home to be with the Lord on October 29, surrounded by family, at his home in Randle, WA.

Ted was born January 31, 1944 to parents Oadney Rudolph and Irene ( Johnson) Jenkins in Mathiston, MS. He married Diane (Deyell) January 9, 1966 in Independence, Missouri. They had their first child, Tina, in Missouri and then moved to WA State where they had two more children— Cherie and Ted Jr. Ted loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, motorcycle riding and wood working. He flew hang gliders and later became a helicopter pilot. He enjoyed checkers and reading, but most of all he loved telling a good story and teasing the kids and grandkids. He had a great sense of humor. He and Diane spent many happy times traveling and exploring together. Ted was a Christian, a fisher of men for Christ.

Over the years he worked various jobs. He was working for a dog trainer in Saskatchewan, Canada when he met Diane and fell in love with her. When they moved to WA he worked for Boeing and helped build the first 737. He drove semi-truck for many years doing long hauls, owned a 76 gas station in Puyallup and was a self-taught mechanic and welder. In the early 1980s Ted, Diane and family worked in the woods salvage logging, which eventually led to the opening of Ted’s Firewood in Burien, where they worked side by side for 22 years before retiring in 2007.

After retiring, they bought a beautiful wooded property near Randle and built their dream house. After 42 years in Prairie Ridge they moved to Randle in 2010 where they formed many new friendships with some amazing neighbors and friends. Their friendships have been a God send and helped Ted and Diane through many rough times.

In 2009, Ted was diagnosed with lung cancer. And though he won his battle with cancer—the long term effects of treatment had taken its toll on his body.

Ted’s last few days were filled with smiles, laughter, reminiscing, and a few tears with goodbye hugs during visits from friends and family, which helped him peacefully pass.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Diane Jenkins of Randle, WA and three children Tina (Dave) Pivinski of Buckley, WA, Cherie ( Jeff) Kuranko of Eatonville, WA and Ted Jr. (Amanda) Jenkins of South Prairie, WA. Ted is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage; Angela (Ronnie) Decker of Austin, AR and Lisa (Larry) Leflay of McRae, AR.

He is survived by 11 grandchildren; Chelsey (Chris) Grant, Brittanie Pivinski, Jake (Brittany) Kuranko, Jessica Kuranko, Nicklaus Kuranko (fiancé Kristina Willms), Meghan Jenkins, Madison Jenkins, Tyler (Courtney) Leflay, Blake Leflay, Heather Decker and Matthew Decker and nine great grandchildren; Desmond, Eva and Lia Grant, Lucas and Makayla Kuranko, Dylan Jackson, Ian Gill, Kyler Decker, Lyla Jenkins and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ted is predeceased by his parents Oadney Rudolph and Irene Jenkins and siblings Rudy Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins, Shirley Jenkins and Tommy Jenkins. A

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 am at the Morton Community Bible Church 150 Division Ave Morton, WA 98356.
