The winless Bonney Lake High girls basketball team has yet to win a game but still must be considered armed and dangerous…if for no other reason than opposing defenses never know which sharpshooter to devote special defensive attention to.
Two weeks ago, Naomi Pounds stepped up with a 20-point second half surge against Sumner High. In its only action last week, hosting Tumwater High, back court ace Carli Elwin recorded 28 points. She scored half of the Panthers’ points in the 65-57 setback.
The Panther girls hope to secure their initial conquest of the season during the holiday break when they trek to a tandem of tournaments.
“We were very careful to make sure that we set up some competition during the break this year,” Panther coach Thomas Ostrander said, “because last season we failed to arrange anything for late December and it took us awhile to get back into the swing of things when we got back to school. We were so rusty from not having played anyone during the holidays.”
