BLHS SOCCER: Tight 2-1 victory against Sumner

The Bonney Lake High girls opened the soccer season in exciting fashion, ringing up a 2-1 victory Thursday night over district rival Sumner.

The Bonney Lake High girls opened the soccer season in exciting fashion, ringing up a 2-1 victory Thursday night over district rival Sumner.

The Panther goals came in a short span, beginning with an Alicia Bowman goal in the 31st minute, courtesy of an assist by Karissa Burnett. In the 34th minute, Andrea Bowman registered an unassisted tally that proved to be the game winner.

The Spartans answered with their lone goal at the 66-minute mark. Kaylie Rozell found the net off a Sarah Carter assist.

The game between district rivals was a nonleague encounter.

Bonney Lake went in search of a second win Tuesday, hosting Tacoma’s Wilson High. It was the beginning of a busy week for the Panthers, who host Roosevelt High tonight, Wednesday, and travel to Yelm Thursday. All are nonleague games; tonight’s tussle begins at 7 and the Yelm game begins at 6 p.m.
