April 20 was a bad day for the Panthers, who traveled to Auburn Mountainview and suffered almost as many errors, five, as hits, six, and lost 10-5.

Bonney Lake shored up its defense a bit when it visited Lakes High Thursday, committing only two errors. Despite the fact the Panthers out hit the Lancers seven to four, Bonney Lake still was edged out 2-1 in the pitcher’s duel.

Most disappointing of all was losing 5-4 to Franklin Pierce Friday.

After giving up three Cardinal runs in the first inning, Bonney Lake pitcher Colton Nash calmed down, twirling five consecutive shutout innings before helping his own cause by blasting a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to winnow Franklin Pierce’s lead down to a scant one run at 3-2.

The Panthers scored two in the bottom of that sixth inning to go ahead 4-3, but Franklin Pierce put two across the plate in the top of the seventh to grab the win.
