The Bonney Lake High fastpitch team will play at 4 and 6 p.m. Friday at the Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway for seeding into the district tournament.

The Panthers, the South Puget Sound League 3A’s No. 1 team, will play Seamount League No. 2 Lindbergh or Mount Rainier in the subdistrict tournament. Enumclaw, the SPSL No. 2 squad, plays the Seamount No. 1, undefeated Kennedy.

The two winners will play at 6 p.m. to determine the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds into next week’s West Central District tournament in Spanaway.

The two losers play at 6 p.m. for the No. 3 and 4 seeding.

The undefeated Panthers (14-0) will rely on senior Caitlin Colvin. Colvin, a hard-throwing right-hander, struck out a season-high 19 batters against Sumner last month, fanned 17 against Peninsula and 16 against Franklin Pierce. She has more than 120 strikeouts going into subdistrict.

She is also a threat at the plate with two home runs this season.

Taylor McCarthy, who is 4-0 on the mound, is available for relief for Colvin.

Experienced players from last season’s state tournament team could play a big part in the Panthers’ success. Sisters Eva and Chloe Beal, along with Kim Courneya. Alex Miller and Ashley Burns have contributed both at the plate and in the field.

The Panthers finished fourth at state last season at 22-10.

Bonney Lake had games scheduled at 4 p.m. Monday at Kentwood in Kent and 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rogers in Puyallup, weather permitting, and needed to play a makeup game against Sumner that was postponed Friday.
