Bonney Lake and Sumner hit the track and field one final time Thursday, along with Franklin Pierce, in preparation for next week’s subdistrict meet with teams from the Western Cascade Conference.

Sumner’s girls defeated Bonney Lake 82-68 and Franklin Pierce 110-39, while Bonney Lake beat Franklin Pierce, 104-37.

Sumner’s Hillary Norris and Bonney Lake’s Vernonica Stinnett battled in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs, with Norris coming out on top in both races.

In the 1,600, Norris and Stinnett were within reach of each other for three laps until Norris started to pull away in the final lap to post her best time of the season of 5 minutes, 9.74 seconds. Stinnett was 12 seconds behind Norris at 5: 21.36.

Norris beat Stinnett in the 800 by four second with a time of 2:20.80.

Sumner’s Ashlee Sincraugh won the 400 in 1:01.77 and teammate Lauren Bulzomi was second at 1:02.99.

Bonney Lake’s Theresa Edwards won the 3,200 in 12:02.68, while Shelby Rowland won the 100 hurdles in 16.66.

Leah Engelhardt, Leah DeDominces, Carson Blankenship and Sincraugh took first in the 400-meter relay for Sumner with a winning time of 51.84 – the best time of the season. The Spartans (Sincraugh, Tessa Hansen, Bulzomi and DeDominces) edged Bonney Lake in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:09.41.

Bonney Lake had several good performances in the field events as Tiara Killmer placed first in two events. She won the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 6.75 inches and tossed the javelin 94-0 to win the event.

Natosha Lyonais won the discus event for Bonney Lake with a throw of 94-8.

Sumner’s Jessica Vandergiessen was a triple winner in the high jump (4-8), long jump (14-8) and triple jump (32-6).

In the boys competition, Bonney Lake beat Sumner 91.33-53.66 and Franklin Pierce 90-55. Sumner lost to FP, 81-63.

Bonney Lake runners finished first in four of the seven individual races. Taylor Brown won the 100 in 11.82, Eric Schroeder took first in the 200 at 23.52, Brandon Baumchen was first in 800 at 1:57.95 and Cory Richardson won the 3,200 in 10:43.71.

Sumner’s Zach Barry took first in the 1,600 run with a time of 4:38.36.

Bonney Lake (Chris Polorny, Baumchen, Cale Snide and Schroeder) won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:27.91 and the Panthers’ 400 relay team won in 44.34.

Sumner placed first in three field events. Alex Griffin was a double winner in the shot put at 45-8.75 and in the discus at 142-10 inches. Kevin Johnson won the pole vault with a jump of 11-6.
