The Bonney Lake/Sumner Drill Team competed March 23 at the Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association Dance & Drill Competition. The WIAA competition took place in the Yakima SunDome, and the team competed in the Pom and Military/Drill categories.

The girls placed seventh in Pom and sixth in Military/Drill. In both categories, they earned their highest scores to date.

Competing in the individual military drill downs were Stephanie Bartlett, Katie Lasko, Allison Plunkett and Makenna Taylor.

The SunDome brings the drill team’s competitive season to an end. The team took home the district 4A championship in the Military/Drill category and placed fourth in the Pom category at the District III Dance and Drill competition March 10.

“Isn’t it amazing how they have grown this season?” Coach Jill McKinley wrote to athletes and parents following the weekend in Yakima. “My favorite part about being coach is watching the girls become confident and beautiful.”
