Bonney Lake High hung around state-ranked Lakes for a half before the Lancers went on a 34-4, third-quarter run Jan. 29 in Lakewood for a 88-45 South Puget Sound League 3A win.

Lakes had a 36-25 lead at halftime before the the third-period explosion.

Ramsey Thoms led Bonney Lake with nine points.

Three players scored in double figures as the Panthers posted a hard-fought 58-53 SPSL 3A win over the Auburn Mountainview Lions at home Jan. 26.

Nathan Braun led the Panthers with 13 points, Riley Baltazar hit 12 and Hunter Colgrove added 11.

The Panthers jumped out to a 14-11 lead, but the Lions managed to stay within striking distance. Bonney Lake went into the final period with a 38-33 advantage.

Bonney Lake will play at White River Thursday, then close out the regular season Feb. 11 against Sumner at home.

The Panthers, along with White River and Auburn Mountainview – all 5-8 in league play – are fighting for fifth place and a playoff berth.
