Sumner High’s boys basketball squad seemed to be stuck on the number 48 last week.

The Spartans continued to struggle in its South Puget Sound League 3A hardwood endeavors, losing to Clover Park 57-48 Jan. 26 before falling Friday 67-48 at Auburn Mountainview.

The setbacks dropped the Spartans’ SPSL 3A record to 2-10.

Against Clover Park, Spartans Mike Murphy, Dan DeVries and Aaron Clark lit up the scoreboard with 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Team leader Murphy had 16 points against the Lions and Zeb Glissmeyer added 11.

Sumner will visit Franklin Pierce Friday, travel to White River Tuesday and finish the season with a Feb. 11 game at Bonney Lake.
