The Plateau-based Rainier Foothills Swim Team finished fourth in the seven-team October Challenge meet behind host Evergreen Swim Club, Chinook Aquatic Club and Poseidon Aquatic Club. The meet took place at Evergreen State College in Olympia Oct. 17 and 18 .

In the girls 8 years old and under division, Kaylee Driessen finished sixth in the 25-yard freestyle in 31.92 seconds. She also was seventh in the 25 backstroke in 35.93 and competed in the 25 breaststroke and the 50 backstroke.

In the girls 9- and 10-year-old division, her sister Kimber Driessen finished fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 2:13.32; sixth, 100 individual medley, 2:23.08; 14th, 100 freestyle, 2:08.49; 50 breaststroke, 1:11.28; and 50 backstroke, 59.73 She also swam the 50 freestyle.

Elise Pratt’s 41.53 earned a silver time in the 50 freestyle. She also finished 11th in the 50 backstroke, 54.45, and competed in the 50 breaststroke.

Molly Bartlett raced to a 42.45 silver time in the 50 freestyle. She also finished fourth in the 100 backstroke, 1:56.91, eighth in the 50 backstroke, 51.57; 11th in the 100 freestyle, 1:46.87 and competed in the 50 and 100 breaststroke.

Jocelyn Clark earned a 12th-place finish in the 50 backstroke with a time of 56.36 and raced in the 50 freestyle, 49.74, and 50 breaststroke.

McKenzie Invie-Johnson raced in three events, the 50 freestyle, 55.27, 50 backstroke, 1:03.27, and 50 breaststroke.

In the girls 11- to 12-year-old division, Amanda Bill scored a silver time of 37.23 in the 50 freestyle. She also finished 10th in the 50 breaststroke with a silver time of 47.15; 12th in the 50 backstroke, 47.33 and 15th in the 200 freestyle, 3:25.02.

Anna Davenport earned her top finish, seventh, in the 500 freestyle with a time of 8:20.30. She also recorded silver times with an eighth-place finish in the 200 freestyle, 2:58.44; ninth, 50 butterfly, 42.29; 11th, 100 individual medley, 1:26.12; and 14th, 50 freestyle, 33.99.

Lauren Pratt raced to a 12th-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 3:13.80. She also competed in the 50 freestyle, 39:13; 50 backstroke, 54.84, and 50 breaststroke, 54.80.

Grace Sales recorded a number of silver times including a sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 8:02.82 and the 50 freestyle, 38.03; 50 breast, 49.19; 100 freestyle, 1:22.53 and 100 IM, 1:34.00. She also finished 10th in the 200 freestyle, 3:03.18.

Bailey Sexton won the 500 freestyle with a gold time of 6:37.30, the 50 backstroke with a gold time of 33.88 and the 100 backstroke with a gold time of 1:11.57. She also was second in the 100 IM with a gold time of 1:13.55 and was third in 50 freestyle, gold time of 28.62, and 200 freestyle, gold time of 2:23.84.

The RFST girls’ 11- to 12-year-old 200 medley relay of Sexton, Sales, Davenport and Pratt was fifth in 2:42.99

Julianna Jacobson finished fifth in the girls’ 13- and 14-year-old division 50 backstroke with a time of 42.81. She was also fourth in the 50 butterfly in 44.74 and 10th in the 50 breast in 46.75.

In the boys 8 years old and under division, Ethan Horan won the 50 breaststroke with a gold time of 48.19 and the 100 breaststroke with a silver time of 1:46.36. He was third in the 100 IM with a silver time of 1:34.23 and the 200 IM with a silver time of 3:23.25. He also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle in 3:18.36 and was fifth in the 50 freestyle with a gold time of 36.64.

Reuben Madewell finished 11th in both the 50 freestyle, 48.35, and the 50 backstroke, 56.95. He also swam the 50 breast.

Douglas Webster earned his top finish, 12th, in the 50 backstroke with a time of 1:00.36. He also raced in the 50 freestyle, 56.59, and the 50 breaststroke.

Among 11 to 12 year old boys, Jacob Hechter earned his top finish, third, in the 100 butterfly with a silver time of 1:26.77. He raced to fifth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle with a silver time of 2:44.08 and 50 butterfly with a silver time of 37.40. He placed sixth in the 100 IM with a silver time of 1:28.97. He was also seventh in the 50 freestyle with a gold time of 32.56 and the 100 freestyle with a silver time of 1:17.00.

Devin Peters finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:52.08; eighth, 100 backstroke, 1:56.29; 10th, 100 butterfly, 1:42.13; and 12th, 100 freestyle, 1:27.71.

Brandon Vick earned a sixth-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:42.68; ninth, 100 breaststroke, 2:04.77; and tenth, 100 freestyle, 1:23.90.

Bryce VanHoof picked up two fourth-place finishes – the 50 breaststroke, 48.42, and the 100 breaststroke, 1:49.74. He was seventh in the 100 backstroke, 1:48.12; eighth, 100 IM, 1:36.48; and 14th, 50 freestyle, 38.49.

Quinn Warner scored two second-place finishes, both silver times, the first in the 50 backstroke, 40.11, and the second in the 100 butterfly, 1:23.09. He raced to a third-place finish in the 50 butterfly with a gold time of 34.04, and third in the 100 IM with a silver time of 1:19.88. He also finished fourth in the 500 freestyle with a silver time of 7:33.50 and fifth in the 50 freestyle with a gold time of 31.11.

RFST’s boys 200 free relay of Warner, Vick, Peters and Hechter finished third in 2:21.13.

Will Cooper won the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Both were gold times, a 5:28.41 and 1:04.56, respectively. He also scored second-place finishes, also both gold times, in the 100 freestyle, 55.48, and 100 backstroke, 1:08.02.

Nik Stopsack earned third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle with a silver time of 2:27.19 and the 200 breaststroke, 3:07.85. He was fourth in the 100 freestyle with a gold time of 1:01.98. He also scored fifth-place finishes in the 50 freestyle, gold time of 27.56; 500 freestyle, silver time of 7:01.59; and 100 backstroke, 1:21.76.

Bennon VanHoof won the 100 breaststroke with a gold time of 1:05.75 and picked up third-place finishes in the 100 freestyle, gold time of 57.11; 500 freestyle, gold time of 5:54.27; and 100 backstroke, gold time of 1:09.53.
