COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Four local high school standouts take field in PLU-UPS game

When the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes hosts the University of Puget Sound Loggers Oct. 24, four former high school standouts from Sumner will take the field.

When the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes hosts the University of Puget Sound Loggers Oct. 24 at Sparks Stadium in Puayallup, four former high school standouts from Sumner will take the field.

Dressing out for the Lutes (1-4) are junior running back Alex Simmons and freshman offensive lineman Court Knoblauch. Simmons, who played at Sumner High School, is a second-year member for PLU, while Knoblauch is former star player at Life Christian Academy in Tacoma.

On the opposing side for UPS (0-5) will be junior linebacker Tyler Vlasak and junior offensive lineman Ryan Anderson. Vlasak played at Sumner and Anderson at Charles Wright Academy in University Place.

Game time for the 84th meeting is 12:30 p.m. UPS holds an all-time advantage of 44-34-5 in the series, but the Lutes have won 23 of the last 26 meetings.
