With the regular season behind them, the Plateau’s prep golfers turned their attention to the North Puget Sound League 3A tournament.
Staged Oct. 13-14 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, the league tourney determined most of the field for the springtime West Central District tournament.
Both Enumclaw High and White River were well represented at Gold Mountain. Here’s a look at how the Plateau teams – both boys and girls – fared at the league tourney.
ENUMCLAW BOYS
Coach Ryan Picinich and his crew did themselves proud, emerging as the NPSL 3A tournament champions.
The EHS squad was prominent atop the leaderboard, paced by NPSL 3A tourney champion Wyatt Webb. The junior carded a 147 for the two-day, 36-hole event.
EHS teammates Travis Leonard and Parker Cook tied for fifth in the field, each with combined rounds of 159, and Sawyer Mowbray tied for eighth place with a 165. The rest of the EHS contingent included Taelon Van Dam, 11th place, 169; Max Craighead, 13th, 172;Henry Bort, tied for 14th, 174; Cole Kiblinger, tied for 19th, 176.
Making up the Hornet team during the West Central District tournament will be Webb, Leonard, Cook, Van Dam and Bort.
WHITE RIVER BOYS
The Buckley crew had four golfers in the top 10, leading the squad to a second-place finish in the NPSL 3A team tourney standings.
Senior Jonah Wright was the top finisher for White River, posting a total of 150 for the two-day, 36-hole tournament.
Others figuring in the White River success included Gavin Weber, fourth place with a two-day round of 157; Wes Ebbert, who tied for eighth place with 165; and Cutter Laramore who shot 167 and landed in 10th place. Also in the field for White River were Zach Wisdom, 12th place, 170; Alex Kelley, tied for 14th, 174; and Vaughn Porter, tied for 17th, 175.
WHITE RIVER GIRLS
The White River girls find themselves head to the spring West Central District tournament following a second-place showing at last week’s NPSL 3A tourney.
At the conclusion of the two-day, 36-hole league tournament at Gold Mountain, White River’s Kailey Jensen landed in second place. She opened with a round of 79 and followed with an 82, making for a combined 161. Also making a Top 10 finish was teammate Noelle Wright who placed eighth with a two-round score of 182.
Others Hornet golfers in the league tourney field included Tatum Weber who placed 12th with 196; Abby Akins, 13th place, 197; Charlotte Ringel, 16th, 204; Peyton Hunter, 20th, 217; Adelynn Valenta, 23rd, 220; Kamille Kaelin, 31st, 241; and Kendall Griffin, 36th, 247.
Moving on as a WR team to the spring tournament are Jensen, Wright, Weber, Akins and Ringel.
ENUMCLAW GIRLS
In a field of nine teams at the NPSL 3A tournament the Enumclaw girls placed third, locking up a berth in the spring West Central District tourney.
The Hornet effort was paced by Taylor Puryear who finished sixth in the field. After opening with a round of 97 she dropped 15 strokes to a second-day 82, finishing at 179. Teammates included Kennedy Francis, ninth, 93-89-182; Emma Fardig, 11th, 99-95-194; Violet Wallstrom, 26th, 111-120-231; Lucy Thomas 27th, 120-112-232; Jaelynn Martinez 28th,125-110-235; and Audrey Peterson 29th, 123-116-239.
