These are exciting times indeed for the Enumclaw High School cheer team.

Under the direction of coach Kim Westerberg, the squad won the Class 3A/4A coed state championship the last weekend of January. Competing at the University of Washington, the team compiled a score of 85.25, the fourth-highest total in the state and the best of any 3A competitor, regardless of division.

EHS competed in the coed tumbling division and the victory marked the school’s first state title in cheer.

With that impressive victory under their belts, the squad departed Feb. 3 for Orlando, Fla., where they competed in the National High School Cheerleading Championships. Nationals took place Feb. 6-7 at Walt Disney World.
