Enumclaw-Kent baseball team wins state, off to California for regionals

The Enumclaw-Kent Senior Baseball Little League team won the state tournament and heads for the regional tournament Aug. 2 in Ontario, Calif.

The Enumclaw-Kent Senior Baseball Little League team won the state tournament and heads to the regional tournament Aug. 2 in Ontario, Calif.

The regional tournament features pool play with the team’s first game scheduled for Aug. 4. Also in their pool will be teams from Nevada, Oregon and southern California. The first-place team in the pool moves on, continuing pool play until the championship game Aug. 10. The winner of the regional tournament qualifies for the Senior Baseball World Series in Maine.

The state tournament began for the Kent-Enumclaw team July 17 with a win over Lewis River. The local crew picked up another win July 18, defeating Fort Vancouver. July 21, the gloves came off as the Kent/Chinook team racked up 20 hits against Redmond, ending the game early with a 14-2 win. The team finished the tournament July 24 with a 9-4 win over Redmond.
