The Sumner High School Tennis team’s first season match was rained out Friday, but not before the Spartans washed away Fife 3-0.

First singles, first doubles, and third doubles belonged to the Spartans, but second singles and doubles were interrupted by rain showers.

“[It was a] great job considering we hadn’t been on the court much this week, and… Kyla [Anderson] and Jasmine [Babcock] are the only girls we have who played varsity last year.”

Anderson and Babcock won first doubles with 6-0, 6-0 matches.

Miriam Tuma won her first singles matches 6-2, 6-0.

Samantha Walsh and Jessica Silone took third doubles 6-0, 6-1.

The team competed away at Clover Park High School Tuesday, after press deadline. They play their next game Thursday, away at Steilacoom High.
