Five Enumclaw High seniors locked in their sporting futures recently, signing agreements with a trio of universities.
A May 29 ceremony took place in the high school commons, with family, friends and coaches in attendance.
Landon Wall will be heading off to Ottawa University in Arizona, where he will play baseball. The Spirit are members of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference.
The squad finished the season with two losses in the GWAC tournament, after posting a regular-season record of 31-18.
A pair of soon-to-be EHS grads will be making a short trip north to join the cheer program at the University of Washington. Heading to Seattle and the Montlake campus are Samantha Santana and Mylee Bonthuis.
According to a UW website, “The cheer team consists of 10-12 stunt partners performing single-base stunts, tumbling, sideline cheers and dances. The cheer team cheers for football, volleyball, women’s basketball and men’s basketball as well as participates in other athletic events and community activities each year. The cheer team competes at UCA Nationals in the D1A GameDay and D1A coed divisions.”
Also off to Seattle is Natalie Lish who will become a member of the UW dance team.
The program’s website states: “The dance team consists of 24 dancers. The dance team cheers for football, volleyball, women’s basketball and men’s basketball as well as participates in other athletic events and community activities each year. The dance team competes at UDA Nationals in the D1A GameDay, D1A pom and D1A jazz divisions.”
Eli Murphy will trek across the state, heading for Whitworth University where he will be playing baseball. Whitworth in a private institution in Spokane.
The Pirates, an NCAA Division III program, finished the spring season with a record of 29-17 and advanced to the regional round of the D-III playoffs.
