The Sumner girls volleyball team took a run at the WIAA State 2A tournament Friday and missed. The Spartans were knocked out of state contention in two games against formidable opponents.

The Sumner girls volleyball team took a run at the WIAA State 2A tournament Friday and missed. The Spartans were knocked out of state contention in two games against formidable opponents.

The Spartans took on the Burlington-Edison Tigers of Burlington, eventually   falling 3-1.

Individual match scores were 22-25, 21-25, 25-20 and 13-25.

The double elimination tournament still gave the team a shot at a seventh or eighth place finish.

The Spartans played Capital High at 6:30 p.m. that night, but lost 3-0. Their match scores were 18-25, 11-25, and 10-25.
