The Bonney Lake baseball team defeated Peninsula 9-8 Tuesday, in a conference game that stretched to an eleventh inning tiebreaker.

The Panthers, in bottom inning position, matched Peninsula’s performance through the seven standard innings. Peninsula made three runs in the third, Bonney Lake made three in the fourth. Peninsula earned two in the sixth and one more in the seventh, and the Panthers followed with three in the seventh.

Both teams went run-less from the overtime eighth inning to the tenth. Peninsula then ran two players to home plate at the top of the eleventh, and the Panthers broke the holding pattern by running three players home in the bottom of the inning.

Cory Burrill went to bat five times and connected twice to hit two doubles, coming out of the game with 4-RBI.

Taiki Green — walking away with 2-RBI — connected thrice in five times at bat, also hitting two doubles and making it to home twice himself.

Winning pitcher Michael Gretler — with 1-RBI — also hit two doubles during four times at bat. He ran to home once.

After a slow start to the season, the team is now on a three-game winning streak. They play Peninsula again Wednesday.
