SHS Fastpitch: Spartans face North Mason High in Tacoma tomorrow

The Spartans earned No. 6 seed with a 16-2 win over Lindbergh and 6-3 loss to White River.

Scores are in from the Sumner High fastpitch team’s Saturday sub-district games against Lindbergh and White River.

The Spartans defeated Lindbergh 16-2, with a mercy rule ending after the bottom of the fifth inning.

“The girls came out guns a-blazing,” coach Kristin Crawley said.

Allie Sims pitched nine strikeouts and three walks.

Amanda Haines led the team at bat, hitting a single, double and her first home run of the year.

Sara Heuett hit a single, double, and triple.

The Spartans went on to lose to White River 6-3.

“It was amazing to see the girls fight back and with some attitude,” Crawley said. “They were really enjoying playing together.”

Sims threw one strikeout and three walks.

Freshman Jessica Pederson hit a 2-RBI triple in the game.

The Spartans play North Mason High School tomorrow at the district tournament in Tacoma. IF they win, they will face third-seed team Interlake High later in the day.
