The Sumner High girls soccer squad remained in the hunt for a postseason appearance as its record went to 3-1-2 after blanking Lakes 6-0 at Sunset Chev Stadium Oct.20 and then trekking to Peninsula Thursday and tying the Seahawks 1-1.

In the week’s early game, Sumner goalie Jordan Swartout notched her ninth shutout of the season.

Five girls scored for the Spartans as junior midfielder Kelsey Hansen got the party started at 21 minutes. Senior striker Kaylee Holloway tacked on an unassisted goal six minutes later and Breanna Allsop netted back-to-back second half tallies coming at the 55th and 68th minute marks.

Megan Fenton and Michelle Nelson hammered the last two nails into the Lancers’ coffin at 72 and 78 minutes, respectively, with Nelson’s goal coming off the second Holloway assist of the evening.

In the Peninsula encounter the Spartans drew first blood when Hansen booted an unassisted goal at the 14-minute mark. After Peninsula knotted things, SHS couldn’t muster any more offense and was forced to accept the tie.

Sumner hosted White River Tuesday and takes on league-leading and unbeaten (7-0) Bonney Lake at 7 p.m. Thursday on the Bonney Lake High field. The results of the White River match came too late to include here, but will be posted at www.courierherald.com.
