SHS GOLF: Spartans pull a hat trick in week two of the season

Sumner High School's boys golf team has hit the ground running this season, with no less than three wins against Steilacoom (70-56), Bonney Lake (74-52), and White River (66-62) in week two of the season.

Sumner High School’s boys golf team has hit the ground running this season, with no less than three wins against Steilacoom (70-56), Bonney Lake (74-52), and White River (66-62) in week two of the season. They’re undefeated so far, with a 3-0 record in league play and a 4-0 record over the season.

Brandon Barlow shot the low score Tuesday and Wednesday, with 39 strokes against Steilacoom and 38 against Bonney Lake. Tom Murphy was the medalist Thursday, with a 39-stroke against White River.

The highest stroke average for the varsity team was 42.5 this week. Their throwaway scores in SPSL 2A league play were 43 strokes and 11 points in both match-ups. Lowest score wasn’t thrown out in the Bonney Lake match, which was held to 3A rules.

Play resumes Tuesday with an away game against Fife High School.
