Travis Filleau was the night’s first man of Spartan fortune. He took a 3-0 win at 113 pounds against Cody Schwab. Spartan Jeremy Jackson, 132 pounds, stayed strong for a 12-7 decision over Carl Klein. Jed Schliesman, 138, carried Jackson’s torch and pinned Tyler Worthern in the second round. A.J. Atoigue ended the duel on a high note for Sumner High, taking a 9-5 decision against Brandon Short.

The rest of the bouts went White River’s way.

The night began at 160 pounds where Gavin Severson pinned Cory Nash.

Lokahi Kamau and Brennan Gulin followed at 170, Guiln pinned Kamau in the first round.

At 182, White River’s Travis Morris beat Nick Ehrenhiem 14-5.

White River’s Chris Skinner pinned Sean Bowles at 195, 225-pounder Andre Fails edged Justin Myers 6-5 and White River heavyweight Justin Nails pinned Zach Summers in the first round.

The Hornet swarm continued as the roster turned around to 106 pounds, with Lucas Doll taking out Jacob Unger 7-1.

Hornet Bryce Thompson reclaimed floor control, keeping 120-pounder Steven McCurley on the ground for a 9-1 win and Trevor Kurtz, 126, pinned Cody Farthing in the second round.

Hornet Caleb Mooresethna, 145, crushed Bob Richards 14-8.

The Spartans took on Washington High School Tuesday night and participate Friday in the SPSL subdistrict tournament.
