Kahne day comes to an end early on Bristol short track

It was a miserable day for Kasey Kahne in Bristol, Tenn., Sunday. The Enumclaw NASCAR Sprint Cup driver finished 34th in the field of 43 on the short track.

“I think we broke a lower A-frame,”Kahne said. “I’m not positive, but something broke and it fell over on that side and went up the track. We were pretty much done after that, so it’s pretty disappointing.”

After hitting the wall, Kahne limped the No. 9 Budweiser Ford Fusion behind the wall and then retured to the track at lap 274 of the 500-lap race.

Jimmie Johnson won. Kahne was expected to drop six spots to 23rd in driver standings.

Sprint Cup racing continues Sunday from Martinsville, Va. Local television coverage begins at 10 a.m.
