Sumner tennis: SHS tops Panthers in finale

The Sumner High girls closed out the season with 4-0 shutout win over rival Bonney Lake Thursday.

Brittany Fulton beat Emily Peiss and Julia Charuhas beat Kelli Hoffman in singles action. In doubles play, Emily Taylor and Reanne Charuhas beat Emily McCoy and Alise McCoy. Rachel Hilburn and Trish Mayer beat Beverly Kobe and Kayla Babcock.

Bonney Lake fell to Auburn Mountainview 3-2 on May 5 in league action.

The turning point in the match was in singles play. Ashley Reisen won her first game and was leading 4-1 before forfeiting the match because of an injury. Peiss lost her singles match.

After losing in doubles play, the Panthers’ Alise and Emily McCoy came back for a win, but lost the final set. Katie Barrie and Jessica Roller won a tough match, while Beverly Kobe and Kayla Babcock posted a win.

Against White River April 30, Bonney Lake cruised to a 5-0 shutout.

Peiss recorded a win over Morgan Wilson and Reisen beat Holly Hodgson. In doubles play, the McCoys defeated Courtney Hall and Haley Havelock. Barrie and Roller hammered Sarah Lindner and Lauren Aronson, while Babcock and Kobe handed Chloe Sharp and Lauren Dedge setback.
