Sumner track and field: Tracksters register personal best times

Several Spartans posted personal-best times as the Sumner High girls’ track team edged Enumclaw, 78-72, and defeated Lakes, 86-61, in a three-meet South Puget Sound League 3A meet Thursday at Enumclaw High.

Several Spartans posted personal-best times as the Sumner High girls’ track team edged Enumclaw, 78-72, and defeated Lakes, 86-61, in a three-meet South Puget Sound League 3A meet Thursday at Enumclaw High.

Hillary Norris and Gabby DeGoede took first in the distance races, while Leah DeDominas, Ashlee Sincraugh and Stefani Castille finished second in the short distances.

Norris won the 800-meter run with her best time this season of 2 minutes, 21 seconds, while DeGoede was the top finisher in the 3,200 at 12:40.0, also a person best. DeDominas finished second in the 100 and 200. Sincraugh was second in the 400 and Castille took second in the 3,200.

The 4×400 relay team of Carson Blankenship, Tessa Hansen, Lauren Bulzomi and Sincraugh finished first with a time of 4:13.90.

Kaylee Holloway was second in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

In the field events, Jessica Vandergiessen cleared a personal best of 5 feet, 1 inch in the high jump and was second in the triple jump.

The Spartans’ boys team lost to Enumclaw, 87-57, and to Lakes, 88-56.

Ryan Halvorsen was the only first-place finisher for Sumner in the running events. He won the 100 in 11.48 and 200 in 23.17 – both personal best this season.

Second-place finishers were Zach Barry, second in the 1,600, and Casey Coffman in the 300 hurdles.

In the field events, Kevin Johnson won the pole vault at 11-6.

Alex Carter was second in the discus with his best throw of the season at 115-4 and Seth Rodriguez took second in the javelin. Jordan Hanni was second in the triple jump with his best mark of the season at 38-4 1/2.
