The White River High boys had an easy time defeating two track and field opponents the afternoon of March 21, whipping the Washington Patriots 81-52 and the Steilacoom Sentinels 92-42.

The double-dual meet, hosted by Steilacoom in less-than-perfect weather conditions, was a South Puget Sound League 2A affair.

The White River girls had a tougher time, losing to Steilacoom 69-58. When the meet closed, the Hornet girls trailed Washington 68-63, but the pole vault competition had not taken place. Coach Jerry Scheidt was certain his girls would get the win over the Patriots once the pole vault was completed.

For the Hornet boys, event winners were Marcus Dickson in both the 400 and 3,200 meters; Austin May, 800 meters; Chris Fisher, 1,600 meters; Devin Liebel, 300-meter hurdles; Blake Maresh, shot put; and Scott Anderson, javelin.

Also winning were both the 4×400 and 4×100 relay teams.

In girls competition, White River winners were Cassidy France in the 100 meters; Jade Crawford, 100-meter hurdles; Megan Miller, javelin; Amanda Lance, long jump; and Madison Budinich, triple jump.
