WR boys and girls wrestling pin Steilacoom, North Thurston

A double dose of Hornet victories was delivered the evening of Dec. 6, when the White River boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams cruised on the mat.

The Hornet boys rolled to a 54-22 victory over the visiting Steilacoom Sentinels after the White River girls posted a 48-30 victory over a combined squad from North Thurston and Steilacoom high schools.

The Hornet boys’ team won nine of the 11 contested matches (White River also picked up two wins by forfeit and there was a double-forfeit at 106 pounds). Of the Hornets’ nine victories that were decided on the mat, seven were by fall. Pins were recorded by Trevor King at 144 pounds; Josh Hanson at 150; Hunter Oswold, 157; Caleb Dale, 165; Luke Lisherness, 175; Riley Simmons, 215; and Micah Eller, 113.

The White River girls captured their team win during a match dominated by seven forfeits (four going the way of the host Hornets).

In contested matches, White River’s Amanda Lillie won by pin at 120 pounds; Marli Miller won by fall at 130; Lily Lamothe picked up a pin at 135; and Jaslyn Storm pinned her foe at 115.
