Tia Johnson and Sutton Mills came up big for the White River Hornets in their last two matches of the season, a 36-18 victory over Washington Oct. 5 at Tapps Island Golf Course and a 41-32 loss to Sumner at Linden Golf and Country Club Thursday.

Johnson was match medalist in the senior night victory over Washington, shooting 49 with 13 points. Mills carded a 56 with 10 points. Taylor Wombacher scored a personal-best seven points.

In the loss to Sumner, Johnson and Mills pulled off a rare double. Playing in the same group for the first time this season, they each birdied the par-3 second hole. That was not the end of the action for White River at Hole 2, as moments later Caitlyn Miller chipped in for par. It wasn’t enough for the victory, but it was a good finish to the regular season.

Johnson carded a 58 with 11 points, Mills a 58 with 10 and Miller shot 70 with six points.

The Hornets, who finished the season with a 3-9 league record, are scheduled to play in the league tournament Thursday at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton and then continue play Tuesday in the state-qualifying tournament, also at Gold Mountain.
