Yodi Lawes becomes 112-pound women’s champion at NCWA nationals

NCWA has not posted results from its women's competition, but according to a Washington Wrestling Message Board post summarizing the Northwest Conference wrestlers' performances, Lawes went 2-0 to win on behalf of Southwest Oregon Community College's team.

The Courier-Herald reported Thursday that former Panther wrestler Nick Bendon took sixth in the 157-pound National Collegiate Wrestling Association national championship.

Friday, Panther coach Anthony Clarke reported 2012 graduate Yolanda “Yodi” Lawes took home first place in the women’s 112-pound division of the tournament.

Lawes joined the Panther wrestling team when she was a junior in high school. In her second and senior year, she took home the 112-pound women’s championship at the 2012 Mat Classic.
