Enumclaw High’s boys basketball squad put itself in a promising position to claim the South Puget Sound League 3A hoop crown and exacted a bit of revenge in the process, as it gutted out a 59-55 overtime victory against Clover Park in Chuck Smith Gymnasium Friday.
The Bonney Lake Panther boys lost two basketball games last week, including a close contest against Auburn Mountainview.
It was an up and down week for the Bonney Lake High girls basketball team. The team took a crucial one-point win over Auburn Mountainview and closed the week with a loss to Lakes.
By registering a pair of South Puget Sound League 3A victories last week, the Bonney Lake High wrestling squad did just what it set out to do – record the first winning league record in school history by finishing the regular campaign 5-3 in dual-match action.
The Sumner High girls placed second and Bonney Lake was third Jan. 28 during a three-team gymnastics meet in the Spartan gymnasium.
The Bonney Lake High School football team will take the field in September with a new head coach.

• A 16-year-old girl reported to police at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 25 that someone stole her cell phone and camera from her residence in the 20001 block of 93rd Street East. The girl told the investigating officer two friends came to her home with two people she did not know. After an hour they told the girl they had to leave and she noticed her cell phone and camera were missing. An investigation continues.
Pacific Police Chief John Calkins was acquitted of driving under the influence of alcohol Thursday.
