Divers Maria Blad and Nikki Wilson picked up team points for Enumclaw High, as did Bella Davenport in the 100-yard breaststroke, during last weekend’s Class 3A state swim and dive championships.
Bouncing back to take a Saturday afternoon victory over Puyallup, the Enumclaw High boys garnered a seventh-place team trophy at the state water polo championships.
TOO FAST: Police responded at 2:11 a.m. Nov. 11 to a report of a recklessly-driven vehicle on Roosevelt Avenue. After locating the suspect vehicle, officers arrested and booked the motorist for driving under the influence. Passengers were released at the scene and the vehicle was impounded.
A pork loin meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m., to be followed by both silent and live auctions. The evening will be capped with a karaoke session.
ON FIRE: Police assisted local firefighters at the scene of a vehicle fire at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8. The incident occurred at Cole Street and Battersby Avenue. Police handled traffic control and assisted the owner in getting the vehicle towed.
A Wednesday night accident left one man dead and had another struggling through the night to eventually call for help.
MENTAL HEALTH: Police received a call for assistance the evening of Nov. 7 to deal with an individual who eventually agreed to a voluntary commitment. The person was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital. About 30 minutes later, police responded with emergency medical personnel to a Chinook Avenue address and a report of a suicidal female. She agreed to a voluntary commitment and was taken to St. Elizabeth. A few hours later, police went to a Warner Avenue address after hearing of a disturbance. A female agreed to a voluntary commitment and was transported to St. Elizabeth.
Enumclaw’s Samuel Shane Alvidrez was sentenced to six months behind bars and ordered to register as a sex offender, having previously pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a child in the third degree.
A 16-year-old Enumclaw boy was killed in a Halloween night accident along state Route 410, and a 20-year-old man from Buckley is under investigation for vehicular homicide. Now, as they sort out details surrounding the incident, Washington State Patrol authorities are putting out a call for witnesses.
INJURY ACCIDENT: Enumclaw police assisted with a two-car accident that resulted in injuries at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6. The crash, just west of the bridge over the White River, was to be handled by Buckley police and the Washington State Patrol.
A talented foe awaited the Enumclaw High girls in the opening round of the Class 3A state soccer tournament – an opponent that hadn’t lost a game all season.
A field goal, a touchdown pass and a short scoring run allowed the Enumclaw High Hornets to finish the 2012 football campaign on a winning note.
A lopsided loss capped a disappointing season for the White River Hornet football team.
The Enumclaw High boys water polo team was awarded the No. 7 seed into the state tournament, to be contested this week. The Hornets will play two games tonight, Wednesday, the first at 5:20 against the host Lancers. The nightcap is set for 7:40 against defending state champion Bellevue.
