‘Quilters’ opens at ACT 1 Studio Friday

The show is a musical written by Barbara Damashek and Molly Newman, based on the oral history "The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art." The story is presented as a series of tableaus of individual women as they confront life on the frontier. Each woman contributes a patch to the family quilt that comes to represent womanhood out West.

ACT 1 Theatre Productions’ presentation of “Quilters” opens Friday at the theater company’s Sumner studio.

The show is a musical written by Barbara Damashek and Molly Newman, based on the oral history “The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art.” The story is presented as a series of tableaus of individual women as they confront life on the frontier. Each woman contributes a patch to the family quilt that comes to represent womanhood out West.

“Quilters” runs for two weekends, June 7 through June 9 and June 14 through June 16. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m.; Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, senior citizens and members of the military.

ACT 1 Studio is located at 5814 152nd Ave. Ct. E. in Suite 104.
