On September 18, interested Enumclaw community members can head over to Logging Legacy Park to participate in an attempt to break two records: world’s largest drum circle and most drummers performing a piece of music in four parts.

The drum circle is part of the Drum Circle for Global Unity campaign.

The goal of the campaign—based out of Ontario, Canada—is not to create the largest contiguous drum circle, but rather to organize a worldwide simultaneous beat to remind people about the power of unity. The origin circle begins at 2 p.m. Canadian Eastern Time and participating drum circles will perform at an accommodating time. That time is 11 a.m. in Enumclaw.

“It’s just a unified intention,” Toni McCullough, an Enumclaw organizer, said. “Intentions do have power. We want to raise awareness that unity is something we need to have and that we can have.”

Each circle will drum a heartbeat rhythm for eight minutes, followed by a piece of music in four parts and a freeform jam.
