Library program celebrates area artist’s work

As part of the celebration of local artist Bob Charlo, the Enumclaw Public Library will host a program that will feature a slide show by the award winning photographer. Most recently his photograph entitled “Nespelem” was chosen as the signature image used in the PBS documentary series “We Shall Remain.” At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the public is invited to view a slide show of some of Charlo’s photographs and meet the artist.

As part of the celebration of local artist Bob Charlo, the Enumclaw Public Library will host a program that will feature a slide show by the award winning photographer. Most recently his photograph entitled “Nespelem” was chosen as the signature image used in the PBS documentary series “We Shall Remain.” At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the public is invited to view a slide show of some of Charlo’s photographs and meet the artist.

In addition, Kathy Foy from MacRae’s Indian Books will present a program that features carvings by Shona-Hah, the matriarch of the Lelooska family who drew on firsthand knowledge, much research and collected memories of the Old Ones for her inspiration. Each “Little Person” is unique, displayed as authentically as possible, essentially a vignette of the way that the person or persons would have lived, worked, or played in the past, and in detailed and authentic clothing.

At 11:30 a.m. July 25, Charlo will be added to the Enumclaw Walk of Fame. The public is invited to attend the program which will feature the Alaskan dance troupe, NW Inupiaq Dancers and the American Indian drum group, Coyote Soldiers Boys.
