James William “Jim” Coutts, 89, of Buckley, died Dec. 29, 2016, in Puyallup.

James William “Jim” Coutts, 89, of Buckley, died Dec. 29, 2016, in Puyallup.

He was born July 14, 1927, in Cumberland to William and Carmen (Jones) Coutts. He attended Cumberland Grade School and graduated from Enumclaw High School. He was an assistant road master with the Milwaukee Railroad for more than 20 years, owned and operated the Cumberland Grocery Store and worked for the Enumclaw School District before being employed by King County. In his spare time he helped start the Cumberland Fire Department, where he volunteered for many years. He loved spending time with his wife and family, camping, RVing and riding his toys around the farm.

He is survived by daughter Victoria Hobi of Enumclaw; stepchildren Greg Kosko, Linda Kosko and Brian (Kaila) Kosko, all of Enumclaw; brother Bob (Bonnie) Coutts of Enumclaw; brother in-law Ron (Delores) Storm of Buckley; three grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene in November 2015 and brother Roy in 1982.

A service took place Friday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley with inurnment at Evergreen Memorial Park Enumclaw.
