Keith E. Oien died peacefully Dec. 22, 2016, with his wife at his side.

He was born March 18, 1930, to Sig and Adeline Oien. He graduated from Enumclaw high school in 1948, was in the U.S. Navy for two years and then attended college in Idaho to study dairy. He then worked for Safeway and Lucerne. He married Mary S. Scott in 1952 and they bought their first disposal company in south Seattle in 1953. They owned and operated several disposal companies in this area for the next 25 years. He loved the work, the men and the challenges of owning his own companies. The couple sold their businesses and retired in 1979, spending the next 35-plus years enjoying each other, working outdoors and taking long drives in the country. He spent the last several years caring for his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years; brother Jim Oien; daughters Gayle and Janelle; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
